Absolute cracking games this week. Bout time! Looking forward to most of them, not necessarily to watch them all but to see the result. Let’s have a look.
Hawthorn v Sydney (Darren)
The battle of the birds. The ground and water dwellers vrs the hunting high flyers but with this description you would think the ground and water birds would only be good at home. Not this year. With 3 out of 3 flying off to other destinations they have got this game in the bag!
Swans 21 pts
Greater Western Sydney v West Coast Eagles (Darren)
I know I shouldn’t be thinking this but I am think the Giants here. The eagles have been in awesome form and showed us last week in their game against Port PPPEEEEEAAAAARRRRR how good they are this year. It has been a bit of a surprise and actually most thought they would drop away a bit this year. On the other hand, the Giants are the opposite, they are the side that were going to dominate for the next 10 years. Last week’s effort was mind boggling. I just think I will go for the Giants because they just can’t do it again, surely.
Giants 13 pts
Carlton v Essendon (Darren)
The game of the bottom dwellers, both in their positions but mostly how they have been playing. I showed you the Boomers stairway to hell they build each week and Carlton have just simply been awful. All Carlton have to do though is be within 7 points at half time and Carlton may just get their first win for the year.
Bombers 14 pts
Gold Coast v Melbourne (Darren)
The Suns had a great fight last week and ever so nearly pulled off a likely win whilst the Demons got a win after a few shaky performances. Sadly, for the Suns they are still being kept from their home ground and have to play at the Gabba this week which must be very disappointing for them. I hope they manage to get up a win for their fans alone.
Suns 18 pts
Port Adelaide v Adelaide (Sam)
It was a long wait for Showdown 44 this year, but the biggest game in SA Footy is here. Crows have won the past 6 showdowns which brings the ledger to 22 all. Port see the return of Wingard, Powell-Pepper and in comes Tom Rockliff, whilst Slone is still out, Crows welcome back big Tex back in. Crows come off a big win last week, whilst Port couldn’t get it together over in the West. Showdown’s are unpredictable and the favourite team rarely wins, BUT.. Crows are just far too good to lose to the Peeeeeeaaar.
Crows by 22 pts
Western Bulldogs v Brisbane (Darren)
I can smell an upset. Brisbane may not have won a game yet but they have been very close on a few occasions but at least they have been consistent and that is something that the Bulldogs have not been. For that reason I am thinking it is well and truly time for an upset of the round.
Lions 19 pts
Fremantle v St Kilda (Sam)
Freo copped a hiding from the Tigers last week and they will be very much looking forward to facing the disappointing Saints at home. Fremantle are yet to lose at their new stadium so I will tip them for this one. Fyfe for 39 disposals and 2 goals.
Freo by 28pts
North Melbourne v Richmond (Sam)
I wrote the Roos off at the beginning of the season, but they aren’t doing too bad sitting 7th on the ladder and beating Sydney in Sydney! Richmond will be no easy task especially at the G. I hope for an upset, but think the Tigers pressure will be too much for the Roos. Tigers by 24pts
Collingwood V Geelong (Darren)
The little master is back. But most of these experts say that the Cats are better off without him. If that is the case why are they picking him? This is going to be an extremely interesting game. The Magpies since their surprising win against the Crows at AO have just get going and form has been extremely good. Geelong on the other, for me are another side that is so unpredictable. I suppose I say that as they have meant to have the engine that is ever so powerful but the fuel has not been mixed well. Haha what the heck did I just say? Oh and Geelong once again have to deal without Hawkins after getting rubbed out again.
Hope you all have a good weekend, don’t forget its Mother’s Day Sunday so make sure your loved one has a great day. Go Crows!
